2005-06 World Cup racing on TV

With the 2005-06 World Cup season opening up this weekend with the GS in Soelden, AUT, I was trying to track down a TV schedule for the upcoming season. During the past couple of years, the OLN channel was responsible for the lions share of the races that were broadcast in the US while NBC would broadcast the races contested on US soil (or snow I should say) and the WC championship races.

Currently, the TV schedule on the USSA website only lists the Nov-Dec WC events at Beaver Creek and Aspen.

I just took a peek at OLN's webpage but was unable to find any reference to the upcoming seasosn. Has anyone seen a TV schedule for the upcoming season?

I was wondering the same thing. There is NO info out there anywhere that I can find! Pretty lame marketing for World Cup - but I gotta think that if OLN was going to carry it this year, it would already be on their programming schedule. I want to watch it!

    World Cup Races

We need to stick up for our sport. A TV program director once told me that they never hear from fans of ski racing, but they really hear from football, basketball, baseball, etc. fans, so those get on the air. If OLN hears from a bunch of NASTAR racers, guaranteed you will be seeing WC races AND NorAms too on TV!
Get the address of OLN from your cable server, then write or call. The more complaints/requests they get from different states, the more chance there will be of us getting to watch the best racers in the world on a regular basis!

    Me too

I sent an email. How could I not? Last year they hosted one program from our local ski area where I live.

They have the best coverage of any TV network by far. I hope they continue it this year.

Well, that's a start. But there's a whole bunch of great races in Europe that I hope get covered.

For example, the season opener is this weekend.

(Sigh - had an invitation to attend at no cost, but I broke my arm...)

Thanks for posting that JT. Although I alluded to it in my original post, I neglected to include it.

While I haven't been able to find a channel broadcasting this weekend's GS races I figured I mention that the Eurosport webpage has real time updates and commentary for every World Cup race. As I recall from last season, the commentary wasn't the best but it does add a little color to each racer's run. As the scheduled starting time for each race approaches you should be able to find a link on the page below:

And to whet your appetite for the racing season, here's a picture of a past course at Soelden on the Rettenbach Glacier:
