    Stupid questions

Forgive me for stupid questions. I am new to all this "racing stuff".
I see many rasing skis FIS and NON-FIS. What is that?
    Q#1: What is FIS?
Q#2: If I plan to race in Nastar do I need FIS or not?
Q#3: If I race in "Fun Race" event on my mountain, do I need FIS?
Q#4: What are cons and pros?

    Thank you kindly

    FIS international ski rules organization
No there are non FIS cheater skis sold for recreational racing you can race on anything at NASTAR
Most real race ski are built to FIS rules as that is where the market is
The organizers of race events will tell you if they are following FIS requirements.
The FIS rules change from year to year.
The pro's of FIS skis are they are real race skis which in some conditions may or may not be a good thing.
