Okemo to host Eastern Championships Jan 27 - 29

    http://www.nastar.com/articles/okemo...-championships

    Plan on joining us!

The Liberty Mutual Insurance NASTAR Eastern Championships will bring recreational racers together for a weekend of racing, live music, parties and fun. Participants will compete against their peers in a modified GS race on Saturday and with their family or friends in a team competition on Sunday. In addition, all of the winners from the races on Saturday will be invited to compete in the Race of Champions on Sunday in a handicapped race to determine the overall champion. Race clinics will be available on Friday with Okemo's coaches and NASTAR Pacesetter and Olympian Marco Sullivan.Participants will compete within their age and ability group on Saturday. The top three racers in each division will win awards and qualify for the Liberty Mutual Insurance NASTAR National Championships at Steamboat, CO. Each age group will be divided into two ability divisions based on the best handicap earned during the race. Participants will take two runs and racers that earn handicaps in the platinum or gold medal range will be placed in the Platinum/Gold division. Racers that earn a silver or bronze level handicap will be placed in the Silver/Bronze division. The winner of each age group, division and discipline are invited to compete in the Race of Champions on Sunday. The ladies will race first with the highest handicaps starting at the beginning and racers with the lowest handicaps racing last. The person standing on the top of the podium with the fastest discounted time when the last racer crosses the finish is the overall winner. Awards are presented immediately in the finish area. The men's race starts as soon as the ladies awards are completed with young and old, experienced and novice racers all competing to be the Overall Eastern Champion. The team competition will take place Sunday afternoon with Family Teams and Teams of Friends competing for separate awards. Teams can have up to six team members but only the three highest point gainers will be used to score each team. Team members will score points for their team based on the handicap they earn in their age and gender group. NASTAR Team Points are a great way to level the playing field so that young and old, male or female, all have an equal opportunity to contribute to their teams' success.Schedule

He's taking a well-deserved break to spend some time with his family.

Fun time! Marco Sullivan did a fantastic job as pacesetter and showed he hasn't slowed down a bit in his retirement.

Here are some photos on the NASTAR Racers Facebook Page.

Hi Pat, Glad to hear the Regional Championships at Okemo were fun. I saw race results in recent races on the web site, but that was it.

Note To NASTAR HQ, you should have had an article as the new front page of your web site by Tuesday. Promoting

NASTAR and creating/sustaining interest has been sorely lacking since the USSA takeover. Are you reading this Tiger?

Plus you should remember to bring the medals and the swag stuff to the event.
It would save you on mailing them out and shows that your putting effort and thought into this program.

The swag and medals showed up two days after this had been posted, so thank you.
