    Handicaps and Handicaps.....

I took up golf at 40 and skiing/boarding at 50. Both pursuits have become a passion. My golf handicap went up this past season and my ski handicap has gone down. For the first time ever the ski HC is the lower of the two. Sure would be nice to retire and try to get them both down.....

I try not to even think of golf before the ski season is over but it's tough.

Your ski and golf handicaps are way lower than mine...... I better not take you on in either sport!

The day I can beat you in skiing will get shouted from the rooftops but that isn't happening anytime soon. The revision of the HC calculations doesn't weed out a low aberration like it used to. Using the old calculation I go up to a 9.52, matching my golf HC, but that's still artificially low. A typical run for me in suits is around a 13 or 14. I did manage a 10 against AJ not long ago so I'm having a good year but I still have a long way to go. The golf HC is another story. Lowest it ever was (the year I took up skiing) was 5.8. It'll take a lot of work and dedication to get it back in that territory.
