NASTAR Open Wachusett wrapup and photos

    Hi folks.

We had a very fun weekend as racers travled from all over the east coast to race at Wachusett Mountain in cental MASS. The folks running the mountain did a spectactular job in difficult weather conditions to put on a great show.

Click for Pictures from the weekend.

    H
ad to share one shot with you here. Some of the snowboard racers posed for a group shot. I didn't have time to grab my board and I didn't want to block their shot so this was my solution.

Thanks Judy! The snow was soft on Saturday and firm on Sunday. I'm happy with my results in skiing and boarding and was fortunate to be on a team that placed third on Sunday.

A half dozen of us participated in a pacesetter certification Saturday (I needed to after launching into the woods at Hunter last Thursday) and I got my first ever single digit run against AJ. Several of my runs were averaged to achieve the 13.99 I'll use to paceset at Mt. Southington tonight.

A friend took some photos and I've added them to the online album. Note: If anyone would like the high resolution originals of any of the photos shoot me an email at webmaster@suburbansport.com

No one could catch AJ. For the record, he is on Head Skis - 188 cm with a radius of 27.8m

Thanks for the photos Pat. I know a lot of effort goes into shooting and posting. Especially when you're trying to race at the same time. For those of you that weren't there, Pat had to use a wheelbarrow to cart off all of his medals. Great job my friend!

    Tom:

Pat is going to have to build a new staircase at his Cabin for his medals! He is like the Energizer Bunny, keeps going and going and going! Nice job Patrick!

If memory serves me right I saw a few pix with Stockliman hoisting some hardware too! Nice job brother!!!

The Open was a blast and it was great to see some great Forum members. I rode up on the lift after my first run and Pat had just finished his fourth. I would need some Red Bull between each run.

For those who missed the Open, it was some great racing on a course that Wachusett did a great job of setting and maintaining throughout the rather warm day. This has reinforced my desire to try and make it back out to Winter Park in March and I would suggest attending a future Open if given the opportunity.

Yup, picked up a little bling on Sunday. Thanks for noticing. Any time I can pull a 12 HC against AJ on a fast and firm course I'm happy! And hardware wasn't the only thing being hoisted. Got plenty festive after the event!!!
