    Old ski recycling

Menards had a sale on log chairs so I decided that it was time to get my ski chair. Decided to just replace the back slats since the seat slats on this style chair went front to back rather than side to side. Turned out OK, might have to pick up one more and finish cleaning out the old skis

    That looks nice!

How did you you cut the skis - hand saw or power saw? Did the cut edge turn out rough and require a lot of filing?

I have an old pair...the neighborhood garage sale was/is this morning and tomorrow morning. No takers so far, so I'm thinking about doing something like this if they don't sell tomorrow.

(In case anyone is wondering, it's a pair of Rossis from the 1980s. I don't know any more than that - I bought them last summer to teach myself how to wax skis. I don't trust the bindings so I haven't ever skied on them.)

Just used a compound miter saw with a carbide blade. Cut nice and smooth and doesn't have any trouble cutting the steel edges. No filing or sanding at all.

I made a wine rack out of one old ski and wall rack out of another. These aren't very good pictures but you get the idea.

Chuck - that chair is so cool. I think you should run out to Menards and make a second one right away, so they match. It's great!

Pat, I like your coat rack as well and can't make out the other photo too well.

At some point I will post pictures of my urban vegetable garden. It is coming along nicely and I am very proud of how many vegetable plants we have in a small back yard in the city. Everying is growing nicely! There are a few good things about the off season....

I made mine myself but you can buy them commercially. Here's an example:
