It has been a bit of a rough start but with your feedback we will make the experience the best it can possibly be. If you were a member of the forum in the past you will be familiar with having two logins. We have simply expanded the forum so that we can incorporate your comments on more pages. Click Register or Login to join the Community and then click Register. You will need to join the community by completing the registration process for the new site. Your old NASTAR Forum user ID and password will not work with the new forum.

    Good luck and have fun.

Well, this has been rough. It appears my screen name ChiTownChick will not work on this new site, so I have had to create a new screen name ChiTown123. That does not make sense to me. Also, getting registered twice was more difficult than I had anticipated and the system would not let me use the same e-mail I had for ChiTownChick - saying it was already in use but not letting me log in under my old screen name. So I had to use a different e-mail address that I do not check that often. So if someone e-mails me via the Forum I will not see it for a few days.

Hmmm....it would have been nice to have seen a Beta test of this before launching. A number of us on the Forum would have volunteered to Beta Test I am sure. Remember that next time and don't hesitate to ask.

Can I get my old screen name back?

Also, are the race records no longer linked to the Forum postings?

Ok, I think I figured a little of this out. It appears to me that the new log in ID and password that works on the Forum is the log in for the site as a whole, and the Nastar ID number log in and password works only for the race record. So if you want to be active in all areas of the site you log in on the main page with the new ID and password that works for the Forum (that you have to choose and register with), but if you want to manage your profile you use the Nastar ID and password (you should already have if you are an active user, same as two log in IDs and passwords on the old site). The new ID and password that covers the whole site also allows you to post comments on the sections within the site - such as the comment section for the Opens.

I did not get that from the explanations offered, sorry.

Does anyone else see this differently or have anything else to add?

Definitely some changeover hiccups but for the moment it seems to be working - sort of. I know we were told our old username wouldn't work with the new forum but I'm kind of obstinate and like to find out for myself. I just tried logging in with my old username and was successful. But as soon as I tried to view a thread in the forum I got a message saying I was "banned for life". Hope they can fix that annoying glitch soon. I then created a new user name with my NASTAR ID and, like you, I had to use an alternate email address. In my case I created one that auto-forwards to my primary one but that really shouldn't have been necessary.

The primary NASTAR.com site has a fresh look. Same for the forum. I suspect the developers will get the bugs resolved soon. The "view new posts" button is missing as is the link to the member's race record. I haven't figured out where to upload an avatar yet but I can't imagine they'd overlook something like that.

Can't say I am a big fan yet. Still can't get logged into the community reguardless of how many times and ways i have tried. It has taken me 3days to get into the forum. I can't edit my photo on my profile without being logged into the community????? Has no function of just seeing latest posts. At this point it is too time consuming

I would like to see some sort of icons that show whether or not you have read a thread yet.

Apparently I've been "unbanned" as the system is now allowing me to post under my old username.

I think I am still banned as ChiTownChick. Pat how did you post under your old screen name. Did you register using that name?

The e-mail thing bothers me too, having to use a different e-mail address. I agree that we need the functionality that lets you just see new posts, and race records should be accessible. This is probably more secure because you cannot identify the people though. Whatever.
