Pat, I was happy with Windham, too. Wouldn't mind going back there again. Wouldn't mind somewhere new, either, but I would like to keep it at a 6 hour limit (like Windham is).

And we're in the same boat weatherwise. 101 with a heat index of 108. Tomorrow, 102 with what I heard a heat index of 115. Ugly, ugly, ugly.

Jon, that was impressive and the distribution pattern is intriguing.

Pat, the nearby town of Frederick, MD posted temps of 104 and 106 yesteray! On a note of history, Frederick holds the all time high for Maryland at 109 back in 1936.

pacesetter e-news this week said an announcement on locations/dates for pace setter trials and the opens will be out this coming week

if they do release, that will give everyone plenty of time for planning

    Hello All,

I am now in the planning stages for the training day with AJ and also events for Sunday. We are planning on a "package" deal for the Friday training as well as Events on Sunday to continue the fun into Sunday.

We were thinking of a "Family Challenge" type race where family or friends can race head to head on dual courses for bragging rights. I also plan to do a race where we go head to head with others with similar handicaps.

Any other suggestions? I want to make this years event even better than last year, although I don't think I will be able to pull of the weather we had last year, but I will put in my request to the weather gods.

I can race my kids and others any day head to head in a NASTAR course and we always brag it up until the next run, no reason to hang out an extra day for simply interfamily/freind racing.

Would be great if a family challenge was families vs families.

I.e team racing, Have 2 person family, 3 person family, 4 person family
example: must be at least one parent and 1 or 2 kids or 2 parents 1 kid

figure out a way to level/handicap the event so a father and 6 yr old can be competitive with a father and 15 yr old.

    Just a thought..............

I do like the thought of grouping open competitors from Saturday that ran say in the same 3 point handicap range head to head without regard to gender or age. (We tend to see where we compare anyway when we sort by handicap, but start us side by side so we know who we are racing before we enter the start gate)
Maybe make the family challenge a subset of that, just seed racers them so they run back to back by prior days best handicap.
Families who did not run day prior, get seeded in at random, but let the familes decide if parents or kids go first as the parent will know if the little ones would liek to go before or after the parents.

just more thoughts......I'll stop now and give someone else a chance to pontificate
