This is what is left of Chair 8 at Alpine Valley. Someone set fire to the shack that controls the chair left. They are estimating the damage at $60k. I guess there is damage to the Bullwheel and the engine as well.

Wow. That does suck. How do they know that someone set fire to it?

Should be covered by insurance and ready for the season.....

I guess this is like the fifth year in a row someone has set something on fire from what others have said on Facebook. Hopefully its fixed and ready to go. Its the only lift that goes all the way up. Also the one we use to train/race.

    Jason:

This is horrible. I still remember when the Earth Liberation Front nuts burned down several buildings at Vail.

I hope they are resting quietly in Jail.

... wait a minute. We're talking about Alpine Valley in Southeastern Michigan, right?

Some of the lifts don't go all the way to the top?????

JT: It really sucks hopefully they can get it up and running. I DO NOT want to have to hike to get into the start shack.

Jamie, Yes we are talking about Alpine Valley in SEMI. Its also the hill where Heather and I spend almost every moment of our winter.

Chair 8 is the only chair that takes you to the top of the race hill without having to hike. Heres a pic chair 8 is the farthest chair on the right.

No worries Jamie, Nastar isn't run down that chair so I might possibly be able to tuck the Nastar run. You should come down and maybe we could peer pressure each other into tucking down the Nastar run, but it could be a tad intense. Just thinking about it kind of scares me.
