It's still six months to winter and I'm tired of running gates in my daydreams only.

About three weeks ago I tried my hand at pencil sketching and have cranked out about two dozen sketches. So far this first one is the only one having to do anything with NASTAR but I'm posting a few more.

Here's my 19 month old grandson Ryan. He didn't quite make it through the Fourth of July parade.

My child bride Penny (she's only 56).

My first (and only) attempt at a sketch without people.

    Wow Patrick, these are fantastic!

You are a modern day culmination of Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Cezanne.

    Pat,

You amaze me with all of your talents and abilities. Competing in both ski and snowboard races is not enough - you are a great artist!

I really like your pictures, they are very good.

Trust me - you don't want to hear me sing. Five of the six New England states have issued injunctions to keep me from singing in public (Connecticut even bans me from singing in the shower) and a measure is before the New Hampshire legislature to make it all six.

Also, you won't hear many guys admit to being bad at basketball but you'd be hard pressed to find someone more inept. The father of one of my daughter's teammates (Caity was All Conference) watched me try to dribble, pass, and shoot and said "Caity's adopted, isn't she?"

I'm having fun learning to sketch and have done 22 so far. I put 'em in an online alburm. You won't recognize anyone. I'm pretty happy with the one of my dad who just turned 88.

Pat, you rock! Is there any way that you and your wife can adopt me??

I hope all is well with you and that you are healing nicely. The mountain bike and the Flow Board have been getting quite a workout this summer.

I promise to get up to Okemo this year. Please let me know when you, Scott, and Arden get together for a clinic!

    Pat,
I want to be like you when I get all growed up. Well minus the bad singing part. LOL. I know you'll say I'm going to have to start snowboarding more first. LOL. Is that almost like bad tasting medicine that's supposed to be good for you?

Hi Hillary! We've submitted the adoption papers. Henceforth call me Dad. Plan on joining us for the opening Mt. Dew Vertical Challenge at Okemo. The schedule hasn't been firmed up yet but I suspect it will be December 12th. Arden will likely be there. Anyone else want to join us?

Hey BSR! First all of all, never grow up! I never did. You said "...have to start snowboarding more first". That implies that you're not totally unexposed to knuckle dragging! Absolutely plan on spending time on one plank. Then I can get you to coach me in both discliplines.

That sounds great! I will have to check the USASA schedule to see if there are any conflicts. I would love to see all you guys again and check out Okemo.

What kind of bindings did you get? I picked up a 173 F2 GS board the end of February (I should have been out on it at Nationals but didn't have a bag large enough for it!) I mounted the new Trench Digger 3 Step-ins. I love them!

I am doing a Flow Rider competition on August 8th here at Camelback. I've been working on my spins. I landed a 720 in a local comp. on Sunday night. I was very excited. Keep your fingers crossed for me! I will have someone try to take some photos.

I see WP got Nationals. I'm not sure if I will make it this year. I may save up for USASA at Copper instead (although I said that last year as well!)

Think snow...if the weather pattern we're in holds, it should be a GREAT winter!

I bought the F2 Ti Race Bindings. I'm hoping that the rear heellift and front toe lift will help.

Best of luck in the Flow Rider competition! In November 2006 I tried my hand at it on a Royal Caribbean cruise aboard the Freedom of the Seas. What a blast! Couldn't resist appearing as Elwood Blues...
