We made it over to Keystone Resort on Tuesday for some NASTAR Nationals race training.

Keystone Race Director, Jay "Mad Dog" Sowers and members of his race department Steve Jones - "Jonesy" & Brian Swain set a great course for us on Richter. The guys set some 16-18 gates for us to run.

The Keystone Race Department played host to many of the World Cup teams from late October through December this year. I was reading the rave reviews in Ski Racing magazine about the job that Jay and his team delivered. Keystone is also host to several NorAm races each year, as well as a few speed events for Rocky Mountain Masters!

The snow was great, the weather was PERFECT and there were a total of 10 of us on our own private course. That is just about as good as it gets!!!

I had my camera in tow, so take a look at the pictures. >>>NASTAR Nationals Training at Keystone

A big thank you to Mad Dog, Jonesy & Brian. BTW: Look for Jonesy & Brian here at Steamboat!

Looks like the perfect way to set up for NASTAR Nationals. Good, steep course, with a tight set.

What did they charge you for the day, what did it include, and was it a full or half day?

Provided we are back at Steamboat next year again, will these guys be planning on this next year? Looks like it'd be worth it.

They charged $25 for 2.5 hours of racing. We owned the hill. We made 6 runs, which was all I wanted or needed.

I hear that we'll be in Aspen next year? Uncomfirmed speculation at this point. But yes, I am confident that Keystone would host another private race training session. The drive from Summit County to Aspen is an easy 130 miles on I-70.
