    Marquette Mountain

Well, the rumors of the cancellation of winter in the midwest has been greatly exaggerated. A little late for sure, but we're up and running. It was good to get in our first real weekend of Nastar!

Here are some shots of John and I getting the course set.

    Setting the finish fencing:

Our ever friendly and customer service oriented Marquette Mountain race director Mark, doing some timing and holding down the fort in the start house. (note the pizza cooking)

Local legend "B.K." getting ready to shred the gates. B.K. is our local Nastar Bully... NO ONE can beat this guy on this course!

This must be why... I pushed the button on the camera when he tripped the wand and by the time the camera took the picture, he was already here:!!!!

After a hard days work, it's time for Mark and Mike to relax in the race department locker room. (do you think we like Volkls?

We had a couple of new Nastar racers today, too...

Tucker, who is two. (he stayed on the leash)

And Jaylynn. This was her second day without the leash, but her first time down this run. It was a little steep for her.... she followed me all the way down, but fell a bunch of times.

    Great shots Jamie

    Jamie:

Great post. Thanks for sharing the pictures. But, this only makes me want to jump back into the boots sooner. :x

Just to add some color, I am in Puerto Vallarta this week at a Sales Conference. 8) Since I can't race this season, might as well work on the tan. It's a balmy 82 degrees here!

BTW: Nice jacket. Mine is sitting in the shipping box.

    Cheers,

    The Bear

    PBR's????

I didn't think they brewed those anymore!

They are truly men of the north!

(and men after my own heart!!)

Jamie, great post - we need more of these, so we can see what our brethren around the country have to race on - looks like a pretty good hill with a nice steep on it (unlike our lower Michigan flat lands!)

BTW - How many are you expecting for the Masters Regionals this weekend? I wish I could come, but I have to work.

I would imagine 50 or 60 racers. I booked a trip out west before the date was set, so I'll miss it. Oh, well.... I'll be in Jackson Hole!!!

Cary sent me an email last Wednesday because he was worried about the conditions for the race. They have been pretty marginal until recently. Right now, the conditions are absolutely GREAT. Unbelievable snowmaking progress in the last 5 or 6 days.... plus we got about 8-10 inches last night and its been snowing hard all day!

    Winter may be here!!!
