    Check out Taos, New Mexico!!

If you go, say hello to Race Director Steve Bishop. He is a great guy and runs an excellent NASTAR race program. Keep an eye out for my pal Lynn "Lil Feet" Nolen and her family. They are always there. Also Michael and Caroline Chandler, both NASTAR National Championship podium regulars. Michael won the Race of Champions in Park City just 2 years ago. And don\'t forget to bring your all mountain skis, the terrain is mind-blowing!!!

    New Mexico Snow

 Hey JT Bear & Nastar Friends,
Yep, we've got a ton of beautiful snow here in New Mexico. Taos Ski Valley is awesome right now. Great skiing here. We invite all of you to join us here at TSV (aka "The Best Kept Secret in Ski Country"). This is a great article posted here on the NASTAR Forum. Thanks for the plug.

Check out the daily snow reports for New Mexico.
www.skinewmexico.com or www.skitaos.org. TSV got 32" of new snow in about 48+ hours, and Angel Fire got 36" in about 24+ hours. We have over 7" inches at our elevation of 8,000 feet.

GET WELL SOON Bear-Man! HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007, to you & Suzie-Bear and all our Forum Friends.

    Affordable Taos Area Lodging

Sometime "affordable" is an oxymoron in ski areas. NOT for the Taos area. If you check out downtown Taos most reasonably priced lodging at Indian Hills Inn.

If you are skiing Taos and do not have your accommodations taken care of, the Inn's almost year round special is Pay 3 Nights, the 4th is FREE. Only times that doesn't apply are peak holidays.

Single night stays in January are as low as $54 for a single. Includes a continental breakfast. Usually can offer free upgrade to single king bed deluxe room with gas log fireplace.

Earlier post didn't mention Sipapu. We have discount coupons at the Inn for Sipapu. Their lift tickets make skiing affordable again. They only gained 21" from holiday storm.

Drive safely as roads and fog are making travel a bit challenging. The skiing is simply awesome!

I don't know any of you yet but, I do look at this forum from time to time. It is great to see the Southwest getting some snow. If we are lucky we will get enough to open Snowbowl in Flagstaff so we can host the Southern Series SL in February.

We are heading over to Taos for the Southern Series GS with my kids this weekend and may try the Nastar at Taos if time permits. I am a little nervous as I just got free in December to hit the slopes after ACL reconstruction. JTBear, I can relate to sitting on the sidelines. I hope you recover quickly. Taos is always one of our favorite stops on the Southern Series races.

Maybe you could convince them that you have to get on the slopes for Skiing For Humanity to aide those on the east coast...we could be living vicariously through you...you wouldn't be doing it because you wanted to or anything, its would be for our sake, you know a greater cause. Its bigger that you. You don't have a choice! YOU....MUST....SKI!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you can sneak away one afternoon.

    Habitat Is Good Cause

    Windamskibum,

Thanks for you and all the other Habitat volunteers. We too support them with affordable lodging when needed. Let me know if you or your group hasn't made arrangements yet.

skiman, we were at the Taos S.S. GS at Taos and the Purgatory SG last weekend at the hampton inn with a group from Flagstaff. I understand the Flagstaff slalom is going to be held in Durango. Is that what you are hearing on your end too.

Skidad, we were in Taos with the same group. We did not make it to the SG in Durango due to some family functions. I heard we had some good results there. See you on the slopes at Snowbowl this weekend or maybe Durango if there isn't enough snow. We will definitely be at the SS Slalom in Durango.

Thank you very much for your offer, but our trips were booked last semester. I am extremely excited about this trip, and the people and cultures we will meet and work with!

As far as the skiing... I think i may have to skip dinner one day and head on out. :)
