    tips on racing in icy conditions anyone????


    ok, i am sliding around like crazy on the course. Yes, I am using my edges as much as possible w/ out falling over. Any tips/tricks? :D :) :shock: :lol: 8) :mrgreen: :wink:

    How old are you? what length ski and sidecut do you race on for which type of course?

    ... As Rob mentioned above, plus where is your weight distributed? If you
    have a tendancy to lean into your turns, you're taking weight off your
    downhill edge and it won't hold as well. The trick is the more compelled you are to lean away (because of the ice) the more you have to lean your weight on to that ski. Had the same issue this year- you're not alone :oops: .
    Got the edges brought to 1:3 instead of Volkls 1:2 and working on 1footed
    turns which forces your weight over your skis. Its working OK for me (I think) but I got a long way to go.

    It helps if the edges are sharp?
    I miss gates. Period.

    Found this by accident, but glad I did. Brought everything but poles to my local NE hill. It was a beautiful icy day with no poles. It forced me to concentrate on shins to front of boots, which helped me edge with more control. Although others were skidding all over, I was carving hardy :) .
    It worked for me.
